About JOSEF MEYER Rail Hamburg

The history of JOSEF MEYER Rail AG goes back to the tradition of JOSEF MEYER Eisenbau Luzern, founded in 1888, and begins as early as 1943 with the establishment of a branch of JOSEF MEYER Eisenbau Luzern. At that time, our craftsmen were responsible for general locksmith work and manufactured stationary tanks for the storage of heating oil.

In 2022, the company expanded to Germany. As a subsidiary of JOSEF MEYER Rail AG, our freight wagon workshop JOSEF MEYER Rail Hamburg (JMR Hamburg) opened its doors in the port of Hamburg on May 1, 2023. An ingenious opportunity to offer customers the usual Swiss quality directly on site.

"At the Port of Hamburg, we offer the full range of freight wagon maintenance services - from simple repairs to wheelset changes and various maintenance stages. Rail freight transport still has a lot of potential - we realize the pit stop for freight wagons and thus increase the productivity of our customers," - said Dominik Suter, owner of the JOSEF MEYER Rail Group, on the occasion of the opening of our site.

In addition to repairs and overhauls in the workshop, we also offer mobile maintenance services at the port and in the surrounding area to ensure the shortest possible downtimes and high availability of freight wagons.
